About Aggacitta Mahāthero

Venerable Aggacitta Mahāthero is a Malaysian Buddhist monk ordained in Burma in 1979. Trained by various teachers, he studied advanced Pāli and translation in Thailand, continuing his studies in Myanmar. After a solitary meditation retreat, he returned to Malaysia in 1998 and critically examines popular Buddhist interpretations. In 2000, he founded the Sāsanārakkha Buddhist Sanctuary. In 2012, he joined the Monastic Advisory Panel of the Theravāda Buddhist Council of Malaysia.
