The inaugural contemporary art exhibition in Nepal, called the Kathmandu Art Biennale: Spiritual Edition, is taking place at the Museum of Nepali Art (MoNA) from January 18 to April 18, 2024.
The exhibition showcases the works of 80 living artists, both traditional and contemporary, with over 100 pieces on display.
The MoNA is situated within the beautiful grounds of the Kathmandu Guest House (KGH), one of the city’s largest hotels.
MoNA is leading the way in Kathmandu by introducing a fresh approach to appreciating art.
They are utilizing the immense talents and creativity of local artists, along with a team of professional curators and coordinators, to educate not only the global community but also the people of Nepal about the country’s artistic heritage and abundance.
Among the artists involved are renowned figures such as Kiran Manandhar, who is regarded as the pioneer of contemporary Nepalese art and has studios in France and Germany, as well as Samundra Man Singh Shrestha, a prominent representative of the “new traditional” school.
