Charok Lama Honors Anila Ngawang Samten’s Lifelong Dedication at Lawudo

In May 2024, delivered a heartfelt tribute to , sister of the late , during a pilgrimage at Lawudo commemorating the first anniversary of ’s passing.

Charok , along with 38 international students, participated in a Lama Chopa puja at Lawudo on May 3, which also marked ’s 83rd birthday.

Charok Lama praised Anila’s unwavering dedication to Lawudo and her brother’s legacy, emphasizing her strength, resilience, and the profound impact she has had on his life and the community.

He highlighted her exceptional commitment, having sacrificed comfort for the preservation of Lawudo, making her a profound teacher in her own right.

Her role, alongside figures like Lama and Lama Zopa, underscores the significant spiritual heritage of Lawudo, now furthered by Anila and Frances Howland as co-directors of the Lawudo Retreat Centre.
