Could the discovery of a Ming dynasty Buddha near an Australian beach alter historical records?

The two Australian filmmakers were searching for scientific equipment left by the Baudin expedition in 1800-1803 while shooting a documentary in Western Australia.

Surprisingly, they found a 15 cm statue that was later verified as authentic on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow.

The origin of the statue is unknown, leading to speculation that it may have been left by Chinese explorers from the 15th century.
