Lhabab Duchen celebration at Lawudo Gompa in Nepal
A remarkable day of celebratory events took place at Lawudo Gompa, Nepal, and we are delighted to provide details of these festivities.
At dawn, a large group of monks, nuns, and the three main lamas of the valley—Thame Rinpoche, Charok Lama, and Kyarok Lama—along with locals and foreign guests gathered at the main gompa (with many lay people outside).
They were there to welcome a 15-inch gold stupa containing a most precious tooth relic from Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s holy body, which was brought in a procession from the blessed mountain cave. Ven. Roger Kunsang led the relic, escorted by the three lamas and monks playing gyaling.
It was an incredibly auspicious event that the relic of Rinpoche arrived on Lhabab Duchen.
Ven. Roger, Sangay (Rinpoche’s brother), and Anila Ngawang Samten (Rinpoche’s sister) each presented a physical, verbal, and mental mandala to the sacred relic of Rinpoche.
