About Bhikkhu Sanghasena

Venerable Bhikkhu Sanghasena was born in Ladakh, India, in the Himalayan region. 

When he was seventeen years old, he joined the Indian Army and developed a strong sense of discipline and responsibility. 

In 1977, he felt a spiritual calling and decided to leave the army. He became a devoted disciple of Venerable Acharya Buddharakkhita Mahathera, a renowned Buddhist scholar and monk who was the abbot of the Mahabodhi Society Vihara in Bangalore. 

After receiving full ordination, Ven. Sanghasena studied the Dhamma and practiced various Buddhist meditation techniques with great enthusiasm. 

In 1986, he established the Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) in Ladakh.
