About Orgyen Dorje Chang

Guru Orgyen Dorje Chang is one of the Eight Manifestations of Guru Rinpoche, and is depicted in the Nyingma tradition as being at the center of the field of merit. He is shown in sambhogakaya form, with a blue body and the traditional ornaments, holding a vajra in his right hand and a bell in his left. His consort, Yeshe Tsogyal, is white and is seen raising a skull bowl with joy. This image symbolizes the Mahayoga teachings given to Guru Rinpoche by the Adi Buddhas in Akanishta Heaven. The lower register of the painting shows a Lama seated in monastic robes.
