Lama Zopa Rinpoche had expressed a desire for some time now for a painting to be made on the 100-foot high Drak Karma cliff located 6,200 meters above sea level in Nepal. This would enable those nearby to witness it from afar.
The Thamichowa community in Nepal is filled with joy to announce that the painting of the 31-foot high by 21-foot wide (9.5 meters high by 6.4 meters wide) Amoghapasha, an emanation of Chenrezig, on the cliff face has been completed.
Funds for this project were raised by the Thamichowa community, while Anila Ngawang Samten (Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s sister) supplied the materials and tools required for the painting.
Ven. Nyima Tashi, Ven. Thubten Tendar, and Pasang Dekyi were instrumental in bringing this amazing endeavor to fruition.
This remarkable accomplishment began a few months ago and took ten days to construct the scaffolding at a site with freezing temperatures and strong winds, making the job dangerous.
The painting itself was done by Nepali artists in seven days, finishing just before Lhabab Duchen, and was consecrated on the day of this special occasion.
This was an incredible achievement that required an unbelievable effort.
