Discovering Buddhism – An Online Journey with Thubten Norbu Ling
The Buddhist Center, Thubten Norbu Ling in Santa Fe, New Mexico, offers an enriching Online Buddhist Studies Program titled “Discovering Buddhism”.
This program provides a comprehensive introduction to Buddhist traditions, including Vajrayana, Theravada, and Mahayana, ideal for those new to Buddhism and unsure where to start.
The center supports spiritual journeys through study, online courses, and meditation, engaging with both ancient texts like the Pali Canon and modern scientific insights.
The Discovering Buddhism program, based on the Gelug tradition’s 2,500-year-old lineage, spans over two years and includes 14 modules.
It draws from Lama Tsong Khapa’s “lam-rim” teachings and the experiences of modern Gelug masters such as Lamas Yeshe and Zopa Rinpoche.
This program is more than academic; it integrates meditation practices and retreat experiences, making the teachings practical and transformative.
Participants can earn an FPMT completion certificate, symbolizing their commitment to spiritual awakening.
However, auditing the program is also encouraged, with no prerequisites or commitments required.
Classes are held via Zoom, with some onsite options at The Buddhist Center.
The current class, “Mind and Its Potential,” taught by Venerable Sangye Khadro, runs from July 8 to August 19, 2024.
The next class, “How to Meditate,” also by Sangye Khadro, starts on September 9, 2024.
