Global Climate Summit Online
The Kwan Um School of Zen, established by Zen Master Seungsahn, is set to host a three-day climate summit titled “Spirit of Hope” from April 19th to 21st.
This online event aims to address the pressing issue of climate change and its intersection with spiritual practice.
Speakers from various countries, including Australia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Korea, and the United States, will come together to share insights and engage in discussions on how Buddhist teachings can contribute to global healing.
The summit’s agenda includes sessions focused on inspiring hope, wisdom, and compassion, as well as facilitated conversations about climate change tailored to different time zones.
Additionally, a panel discussion featuring prominent figures such as Zen teacher David Loy, climate activist Nancy Hedgpeth, and filmmaker So Young Lee will provide diverse perspectives on the topic.
Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, the Kwan Um School of Zen blends Korean Buddhism with Japanese Rinzai Zen, alongside elements from other Buddhist traditions.
With its significant presence in the West, the school plays a vital role in promoting spiritual growth and addressing contemporary issues like climate change through its teachings and initiatives.
