Open house with Gen-la Kelsang Jampa at IKRC Grand Canyon
The International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon recently held a series of events with a focus on community engagement.
This included an open house, which gave attendees an informative look into Kadampa Buddhism and meditation, and a volunteer service weekend.
Volunteers from various Kadampa centers worked together to improve the temple and its surroundings.
On Saturday, September 23, 2023, the International Kadampa Retreat Center Grand Canyon opened its doors to the public with a free pancake breakfast and open house.
The event was attended by around 70 people, including representatives from the local fire departments, High Country Fire Rescue, and Sherwood Forest.
Gen-la Kelsang Jampa, along with two other teachers, held four meditation classes at the Temple from 8:30 am to 12 pm.
Kelsang Samsang and Mary Harvey also provided informative tours of the Temple, addressing questions about the artwork, meditation techniques, and the fundamentals of Kadampa Buddhism.
The members of IKRC worked together to provide a delicious breakfast and managed the bookstore/café, creating a pleasant atmosphere for visitors to shop and unwind.
