The Dalai Lama Begins Three-day Teachings in Leh, Ladakh

His Holiness paid his respects to the Buddha at the teaching pavilion by lighting a lamp before the image.
As he walked out to the stage, the gathered guests welcomed him with applause.
He then smiled and waved to the people in front, to the left and right, and even gestured upwards.
In response, tens of thousands of people folded their hands in reverence. Lamas and Tulkus were seated around the throne as His Holiness sat down and a mandala offering was made by representatives of the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA) and the Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA), as well as sponsors of the event.
