The Dalai Lama visited the Maha Bodhi Mahavihara Temple, a World Heritage Site and the place of Lord Buddha’s enlightenment, accompanied by his attendants.
Upon arrival, he was greeted by the Secretary and members of the Bodhgaya Temple Management Committee, as well as numerous devotees and pilgrims.
The 88-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader bowed to the famous Buddha statue at the Namgyal Monastery, and the monks there joined him in chanting the ‘Three Continuums’, the ‘Heart Sutra’, ‘Illuminating the Threefold Faith—an Invocation of the Seventeen Great Scholar-Adepts of Glorious Nalanda’, ‘Dependent Arising: a Praise of the Buddha’, ‘The Seven Limbs from the Samantabhadra Prayer’, the ‘Words of Truth’ and other praises.
He also humbly expressed his gratitude for being able to pray in front of the special Buddha Statue and at a holy site.
