About Thubten Gyatso

Venerable Thubten Gyatso, a Sramanera, traces his journey from the sun-kissed beaches of northwest Florida to the path of spiritual awakening. Graduating from the University of Florida with a BA in History and a minor in Business Administration, followed by an MA in History, Gyatso's thirst for knowledge led him across six continents. His encounter with Buddhism in 2005 sparked a deep curiosity, eventually leading him to volunteer at Dharma College in Berkeley and later in Sarnath, India. Gyatso's immersion in monastic life at Sravasti Abbey since May 20th, 2023, has solidified his commitment to the Dharma. With a passion for service, Gyatso engages in administration, infrastructure, and Dharma dissemination, eagerly anticipating his future as a member of the bhikshu sangha.
