Everything Depends on Karma – Advice from Lama Zopa
Two students had been struggling to sell their house for years to move and study Dharma. Seeking advice from Rinpoche, they also asked about their studies and practicing shamatha.
Advice from Thubten Zopa Rinpoche
Lama Zopa emphasized the importance of not just studying Dharma but also practicing and internalizing it.
He pointed out that the inability to sell the house might be due to karma, highlighting that everything depends on karma.
Even if the price is adjusted, without the right karma, the sale may not happen.
Rinpoche recommended a puja called “Lü Dang Sadag Gi Don Drol” to help with their situation, suggesting an experienced monk in Nepal to perform it.
Additionally, he advised them to recite the Black Six-arm Mahakala prayer extensively.
He stressed the importance of integrating the lamrim into their daily lives and practicing it to actualize bodhicitta.
By following these practices, they can create the positive karma needed to achieve their goals and overcome obstacles.
Key Points
- Integrate and practice Dharma teachings, not just study them.
- Karma plays a crucial role in all aspects of life, including selling property.
- Perform specific prayers and pujas to address karmic obstacles.
- Focus on the lamrim to cultivate bodhicitta and progress spiritually.
