Remembering Nyingma Scholar Nyichang Khentrül Rinpoche
As one of the foremost scholar-monks of the Nyingma tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, Nyichang Khentrül Rinpoche played a pivotal role in transmitting Buddhist teachings, particularly in Japan, where he resided for over 25 years upon the request of the Dalai Lama.
Nyichang Khentrül’s dedication to sharing the Buddhadharma led him to emphasize the importance of studying and practicing ngöndro, the preliminary practices of Dzogchen, a profound teaching within Tibetan tantric Buddhism.
Additionally, he founded the Buddha Pāda Institute in Kalimpong, India, under the guidance of Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche, offering a space for the study and practice of Buddhism and Indian philosophical systems.
Nyichang Khentrül’s legacy lives on through his teachings and the institutions he established, leaving an indelible mark on the spiritual landscape.
