Tibetan Studies in India Program with William Edelglass
The Barre Center for Buddhist Studies (BCBS) Director of Studies, William Edelglass, recently returned from leading the Tibetan Studies in India Program, an immersive academic exchange initiative with Tibetan universities in exile.
Each year, the Five Colleges send 15 students to delve into Buddhist philosophy, Tibetan history, culture, and textual analysis at the Central University of Tibetan Studies (CIHTS) in Sarnath, India.
During their journey, the group had an unexpected encounter with the Dalai Lama in Bodh Gaya.
Meeting the Dalai Lama left an indelible mark on the students, who received blessings and traditional tokens.
Reflecting on the experience, they expressed gratitude for the opportunity and the auspicious energy surrounding the encounter.
For those interested in Buddhism, programs like Touching the Earth and The Contemplative Semester offer enriching experiences, while upcoming BCBS retreats, like Exploring the Foundations of Buddhist Thought and Practice, provide further opportunities for learning and reflection.
