In this monthly lesson, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche talks about how to invigorate the body and bring peace to the mind using a breathing exercise called the “thirty-breath exercise.”
This uncomplicated technique is designed to harmonize the mind and cultivate gratitude for our lives and the world we live in.
The technique involves concentrating on the breath while switching between nostrils. It includes taking ten breaths in and out through each nostril, followed by ten breaths through both nostrils.
Rinpoche suggests doing this exercise every morning to cultivate mindfulness and gratitude towards life.
It encourages individuals to be fully aware of their surroundings and emotions, and to acknowledge the importance of both positive and negative experiences.
Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche guides us through a breathing exercise aimed at relaxing the body and mind.
The practice includes breathing in and out 10 times through each nostril, followed by 10 breaths through both nostrils.
For each set, individuals are encouraged to close the respective nostril using a finger and inhale and exhale mindfully.
The exercise enhances awareness of physical sensations within the body and promotes relaxation, allowing individuals to be present with their feelings and emotions
Yongey encourages us to appreciate the gift of life by being mindful of the sights, sounds, smells, and feelings of the world around us, and acknowledging the ups and downs of life.
According to him, it’s essential to appreciate both the positive and negative experiences, as we can learn and grow from the downs just as we enjoy the ups
