Compassion is the source of happiness. Compassion gives inner strength to keep calm in any situation.
Compassion has two functions: it causes our brain to function better and it brings inner strength. These, then, are the causes of happiness.
As human beings we need to assess whether anger has any value – it destroys our peace of mind. Compassion, on the other hand, brings optimism and hope.

The ego does look upon enlightenment as to its ultimate acquisition for itself, however, if attained, there will be a surprise that there are no others to not be enlightened.
