Tung Lin Kok Yuen Canada Society (TLKYCS) is marking its 30th anniversary with a series of public events, highlighted by a seven-day Yogacara (Yankou) Dharma Assembly from June 2–9.
The celebration culminates with a special anniversary ceremony on June 9, promoting TLKYCS’s religious and cultural values.
The Yogacara Offering, a 1,000-year-old Chinese practice, involves mudras, mantras, and visualization to guide hungry ghosts toward the Triple Gem, Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, leading them on the path to buddhahood.
Venerable Tsang Chit, abbot of Tung Lin Kok Yuen, traveled from Hong Kong to Vancouver to oversee the Dharma Assembly, emphasizing TLKYCS’s commitment to community outreach and religious care.
Over three decades, TLKYCS has built a robust membership and established connections with universities, senior care homes, healthcare institutions, and charities.
The organization aims to enhance community services through religious care.
Recent activities include a “Buddha’s Birthday Assembly and Open Day” in mid-May, featuring guided tours and stalls highlighting the garden’s religious and cultural significance.
The current Yogacara Dharma Assembly seeks to benefit all sentient beings through Buddhist practice, with short videos explaining its meaning and significance.
TLKYCS has previously hosted renowned teachers like Thich Nhat Hanh, Hin Hung, professor Dhammajoti, and will feature Hin Hung lecturing on the Diamond Sutra this month.
Founded in 1994 by Robert Hung-Ngai Ho, TLKYCS continues to promote Buddhism internationally through various philanthropic activities, maintaining its founder’s vision.
