Buddhist Fasting practice with Pema Khandro
The Buddhist Fasting practice called “Nyungne” is a deep purification of the body and mind.
It involves letting go of old patterns and finding inner liberation.
This practice includes fasting, taking vows, reciting mantras, meditating on Avalokiteshvara, and engaging in silent contemplation.
Its purpose is to cleanse karma and promote healing of both the body and mind.
This Buddhist fasting custom originates from Gelongma Palmo, a Tibetan nun from the 11th century, who utilized fasting as a means of liberation during severe illness.
The virtual retreat with Pema Khandro will trace Palmo’s journey and involve practicing meditation on Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion.
Throughout the weekend, participants will receive guidance on Buddhist fasting techniques, as well as supportive instructions on nutrition and detoxification based on Tibetan Medicine and Ayurveda.
This will cater to both beginners to fasting and individuals experienced with fasting.
