Etymology of Gyurme Dorje
Gyurme Dorje is also known as a Scottish Tibetologist and writer. Gyurme Dorje who is also known as Terdag Lingpa.

Iconograpy of the Gyurme Dorje

Posture of the Gyurme Dorje
Gyurme Dorje was stately in appearance who was with a kind face. Gyurme Dorje was having a beard and mustache showing signs of age with encroaching grey. Gyurme Dorje gazes forward with a slight tilt of the head.
The right hand of Gyurme Dorje is raised in the gesture of blessing with the thumb and index fingers slightly touching betraying the shape of a vase with the three outstretched fingers imitating decorative peacock feathers. Resting in the lap the left-hand of Gyurme Dorje holds a square box representing a treasure casket, the sacred vessel of Revealed Treasure. Gyurme Dorje was wearing predominantly white robes and a shirt of green and orange indicating his status as a householder.
Gyurme Dorje wears an orange meditation cloak wrapped about the shoulders and lower body. Atop the head of the Gyurme Dorje, there is a blue lotus hat edged with red and gold which is marked with a sun and moon emblem. Gyurme Dorje wears crowned with a golden half vajra.
Gyurme Dorje’s Vajra was encircled by an aureola of green and pink and further framed by lotus blossoms and dark green foliage. Gyurme Dorje was Seated atop a cushioned throne with a blue backrest draped with a white scarf. Gyurme Dorje sits before a table filled with personal ritual objects, books, and a teacup.

Depicting Lama Teacher Gyurme Dorje Thangka
The thangka of Gyurme Dorje is from Tibet. It was made in between 1600 – 1699 AD. Gyurme Dorje is from Nyingma lineage. The base of the painting is Ground Mineral Pigment on Cotton. Presently, this painting is in the Rubin Museum of Art.
By depicting this thangka, we will learn how Gyurme Dorje is presented with Padmasambhava, two buddha figures, Minling Lochen Dharmashri, and Pema Gyurme Gyatso, etc.
Padmasambhava
Padmasambhava is in the top center of the Gyurme Dorje in the thangka. Padmasambhava is in the ‘form of all the conquerors of the three times. With the right, Padmasambhava was holding an upraised vajra.
And the left hand of Padmasambhava extended across the knee in a wrathful gesture.
Two Buddha figures
Two Buddha figures are in the upper right and left of the thangka. Two Buddha figures are seated in the open sky encircled by spheres of radiant rainbow light.
Minling Lochen Dharmashri
Minling Lochen Dharmashri is in the bottom left of the thangka. The right hand of the Lochen Dharmashri held up in a gesture of blessing. And the left of Lochen Dharmashri is holding a folio book in the lap. He wears the robes of a monk and him lotus hat of the Nyingma tradition.
Pema Gyurme Gyatso
Pema Gyurme Gyatso is on the right side of the thangka. Pema Gyurme Gyatso has the heir to Mindroling and the son of Terdag Lingpa. In the right hand, he holds a stylus. And in the left a tablet for writing and he is wearing the robes of a monk a red Pandita hat.

Gyurme Dorje with Padmasambhava Thangka
Gyurme Dorje with Padmasambhava is from Tibet. It is made in between 1800 – 1899 AD. Gyurme Dorje with Padmasambhava is from Nyingma and Buddhist lineage. The size of the painting is 43.18×25.40cm. The base of the painting is MaterialGround Mineral Pigment on Cotton.

Terdag Lingpa Gyurme Dorje surrounded by attendant figures with Guru Rinpoche above. Gyurme Dorje was older in appearance. Gyurme Dorje was wearing the orange and red robes of a monk.
Gyurme Dorje holds a folio book with both hands in the lap. The head is crowned with the lotus hat in the tradition of Padmasambhava. Atop an ornate throne and backrest, he sits with the head ringed with a dark green aureola of light.
